Draw Attention at an Occasion with the 3 Colored Gemstone Cocktail Rings

You have of course seen two colored gemstone rings and may even possess one in your jewelry box, but have you dreamt of a bright and gorgeous 3 colored gemstone ring? If you did, then it is time to fulfill your dream now. Jewelry designers have launched 3 colored gemstone rings for every occasion and by 3 color gemstones we do not mean ruby, sapphire and emerald, instead we mean other gemstones that offer an affordable alternative to the expensive designer rings. The alternative rings look gorgeous and are capable of adding glamour to your dress whether you are visiting a cocktail party or attending a wedding ceremony.

Do you want to have an idea of the color palette the alternatives open up? Just think there are 33 different kinds of yellow gemstone and let alone the pinks, greens and the purples. These alternatives will leave you asking for more. The rings have stones the colors of which range from bright dazzling to soft and subtle. A cocktail ring has jadeite as the center piece which is surrounded by smaller diamonds making the ring appear unique. You will not be able to take your eyes off the ring and marvel at what a plain stone like jadeite can get transformed into when jewelry designers display their craftsmanship.

While some designers are trying out something absolutely new, there are others who are providing a modern twist to the timeless classical combinations like green and blue in fine jewelry. Dark green center stone in a ring is surrounded by frilly blues making the ring appear edgy and chic. The island ring made from rose gold features an emerald set in the middle surrounded by blue topaz and champagne diamonds. The mix of diamonds and blue topaz along with emerald lends the ring an out and out glamorous touch.

In another combination chrysophase is used beautifully and innovatively for a cocktail ring set with 478 diamonds accentuating the chrysophase stone. In the other striking jewelry, a baroque tanzanite is surrounded by triple halo of bright and deep hued purple diamonds, sapphires and blue diamonds creating a masterpiece of fine jewelry. The baroque tanzanite is 54.20 carat and has its deep hues enhanced by the triple halo formed by diamonds and sapphires. The tanzanite in the ring retains its natural shape adding an organic feel to the exceptional ring.

These 3 colored alternative gemstone cocktail rings are bound to draw attention at any occasion.

The Butterfly and Fine Jewelry Saga

The beautiful, colorful and elegant butterfly has always been a favorite of the jewelry designers who still continue to be fascinated by its intricate and delicate structure. The butterfly has been one of the most popular motifs of jewelry since times immemorial and it is one of the most beautiful gifts of nature. It is also considered as a symbol of rebirth which is also associated with the creativity of an artist. Its iridescent wings are something that we will never get tired of and it also inspires the jewelry designers to create some of the finest pieces of delicate looking jewelry.

The moment when the butterfly stops fluttering and settles down has been captured by jewelry designers to create beautiful and stunning pieces of jewelry using yellow gold and brown diamonds. The butterfly represents a carefree spirit and somewhat whimsical nature. These features have been captured in all the rings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches and other forms of jewelry created by various jewelry designing houses. It’s not just golden butterflies; wooden butterflies with colorful gemstones are made by innovative jewelry designers for butterfly lovers. The wooden brooches studded with gemstones are a one of a kind jewelry collection.

Rose cut diamonds and pink sapphires have been used to recreate the body and wings of the tropical Esmeralda butterfly. Its transparent wings are the main attraction of the jewelry piece. The butterfly rings have truly won the heart of many admirers because it realizes the imagination of many to have a butterfly seated atop one’s fingers. The rings made from light weight titanium are studded with diamonds and colored gemstones to recreate the charm of a butterfly. However, the highlight of the ring is the illusion that is created when the wearer bends her fingers; you can see the wings flutter.

The iconic butterfly motif is also inspiring more technically savvy designers who are bringing 3D designed jewelry pieces on the table. Necklaces, rings and earrings made from oxidized silver set with gemstones like blue topaz and amethyst have the 3D effect making the items truly unique. The elements focused on the 3D designs are movement, flight and light through which amazing pieces of butterfly jewelry pieces have been created. The black rhodium combined with black diamond piece is the ultimate in the 3D collection. So, now you can have your pet butterfly with its delicate structure and charming presence always with you.

The Bow as the Most Enduring Motifs through Ages

The bow is of the most enduring symbols in fine jewelry since ages. Various jewelry designing houses have modified it to suit their unique jewelry items. It is considered to be one of the most feminine motifs which is classic and sophisticated as well. A bejeweled bow on a ribbon is the perfect design representing classical beauty. The bow motif first made its appearance in the 17th century as a symbol of love and marriage. They mostly appeared attached to brooches and necklaces. The bow also represented a playful side of a person therefore whether on brooches or on necklaces or even on tie pins, bows looked cute.
The bow design underwent a change in design in the Edwardian era when it became more fluid instead of the stiff design of the French court. During the Edwardian era, bows studded with diamonds started appearing on necklaces, pendants, rings earrings and also on brooches. Now the bow has undergone even more changes with loosened up sides and asymmetrical loops on cuffs and chokers encrusted with diamonds. The bow design and diamonds complement each other making the jewelry item appear more elegant and whole. Even to this day diamond encrusted bow spells romance and if you are getting one such ring on your engagement or wedding day, then your love will be everlasting.
An interesting jewelry piece with a bow to offer is a white gold double finger ring designed exquisitely for bow lovers. It looks unique and is entirely studded with white diamonds. Bows are appearing on rings with pearls and diamond to complement them. In of the fine jewelry collections a spectacular ring made from white gold has a base of South Sea pearls along with a diamond studded bow while in another set of earrings Japanese pearls are used along with diamonds on bow shaped earrings. Both these items are sophisticated, elegant and beautiful.

Some of the most chic designs are found on items with bows nowadays. Cuffs made from 18carat rose gold or white gold also feature diamond encrusted bows to impress their collectors while stud like bow earrings entirely studded with diamonds are the hot favorites of the fashionista. One of the most contemporary bow use is found on an open collar necklace which will look gorgeous on a white shirt teamed with a classic black skirt. Other items include a pear cut diamond ring and a knotted bow ring to sweep you off your feet.

Non Traditional Colorful Engagement/Wedding Rings with Precious Gemstones

If a conventional white diamond mounted on a gold band makes you feel ordinary and bland, then choose one among the colorful engagement rings from the avant-garde collection of engagement rings. Do not compromise on the engagement ring/wedding ring because you are going to wear it for the rest of your lives. The unusual rings are perfect for the bride who wishes to stand out in the crowd. Break the mold of traditions and try something new and you will be highly rewarded for this endeavor later. Each of the rings is unique and special because the bride is a special person like no one else.

You can go for the bright fuchsia colored ring with a brilliant round cut diamond solitaire in the middle channel set along with smaller diamonds all along the double band making it an outstanding piece of jewelry. The entire ring is made from rhodium-plated white gold with an elegant design appearing refined and poised. If you thought that the variety only extends till white gold, then you will be bowled over by ceramic rings featuring colorful gemstones which will make your entire ensemble appear bright and colorful. These rings are literally unique with the use of ceramics and gemstones like purple or yellow sapphire and green diamond as center stones. Moreover, the rings also have a touch of rose or green gold making them the ultimate in colorful engagement/wedding rings.

Jewelry designers are using titanium which is an extremely skin friendly and cheap metal in comparison to gold, platinum and silver to make engagement/wedding rings. Titanium is usually used for making body modification jewelry items, but now jewelry designers are using titanium to make high end jewelry items including wedding/engagement rings. Titanium bands with pink, green, cognac or blue hues set with sparkling diamonds in every shape imaginable can be your perfect choice for the auspicious occasion. These are the classic solitaire diamond rings with a twist in terms of color and metal making all the difference. Some of the titanium bands have pave diamonds all over to make the ring appear even more dazzling.

Such experiments continue with combining the eastern and the western influences on rings especially made for the big day. Sometimes even hand painted bands with diamond solitaires are offered by jewelry designers to make the ring more personal. These rings are mostly made from gold of various colors and feature diamonds as center stones. Break the mound and get rid of the uniform engagement rings this time.

Jewelry Trends of 2016

Jewelry trend forecasters are predicting a jewelry design trend which will be a blend of the classic style with technological advancement and innovation. According to the industry experts, the fashion industry will draw inspiration from magic or the outside world. It will be powerful exploration of the space between light and shadow. For instance, the colors midnight blue slowly fading into lighter shades of light blue or lilac will be the perfect theme to explore light and shadow alternatively. Blue sapphires, marcasite and white cubic zirconia stones are combined with opal, mother of pearl and laser sliced stones to provide the iridescence and the reflective effect.
Eternity is another theme that will be explored by the jewelry and fashion industry in 2016. It’s the desire of every human being to find out the elixir for eternity hence they keep exploring the heritage and also the many possibilities in future through their designs which are manifestations of their imagination. Eternity explores a lavish color scheme with hues like amber, citrine, honey combined with intensely dark tones like deep blue. To provide the accents white or off-whites can be used with brilliant orange, striking green and electric blue. This creates a warm effect. Gemstones like peridot, topaz and citrine are used in metalwork techniques to bring out the vast spectrum of colors.
Body art has been in vogue for quite some time now. The relationship between body and body adornments has been explored by millions and the best part is that this trend will never fade away because it provides an individualistic take on fashion. Headpieces, body chains, hand ornaments, cuffs and so on will be available in shades of burgundy, pink which provides a melting effect with flashes of turquoise and amethyst to balance out the adornments. The jewelry designers and lovers are also experimenting with organic materials like leather and animal scale along with synthetic ones to provide shapes that will follow the body movement.
Technological advancement has been introduced to the jewelry designing industry long back and continuing the trend the designers will explore 3D prints and use electronic tools to provide angled and defined edges to precious gemstones. Smoky quartz, black spinel and cubic zirconia in warm tones and corners and edges will be seen more in jewelry. Intriguing coating/plating, synthetic gemstones in industrial shapes and masculine color palettes in greys and khakis with soft accents of pink and orange will show the way.

Hence, 2016 jewelry industry will be ruled by combination of traditional and modern aesthetics through technological advancement.

Brooches Reincarnated- the Octagonal Sun and Star Pieces

The sun with its rays weaves a majestic image in the sky which has inspired many jewelry designers over the ages. This time it has inspired a new collection of brooches which are shaped in the form of bright sun to stun the fashionista. The brooch is one of the most ancient of jewelry items which has made a comeback recently with new designs and styles and the sun collection also belongs to the reincarnation of brooches. All the items of the collection demonstrate octagonal shapes juxtaposing the star which is another popular motif for fine jewelry. The octagonal or eight sided brooches displaying the sun through metals and precious gemstones have been liked by the jewelry lovers.

The 8 sided and 16 sided brooches mark a new beginning to these ancient jewelry pieces. The brooches are crafted from yellow gold in neat octagonal geometric shapes that play with negative space while the smaller ones are studded with diamonds surrounding a cabochon gemstone in the middle. However, among the suns a bird shines through with its clean lines and curves studded with diamonds in 8 pointed stars elaborately designed to make the body of the bird. The octagon signifies renewal and hence has been chosen the jewelry designers for reinventing the ancient item called brooches. It also signifies cosmic order, balance and harmony.

Along with signifying renewal, these brooches are excellent for use. They are light in weight and have clean geometric lines which not only look great on your clothes but also extremely stylish. Brooches as many might think is an accessory made for the older people, but they forget how versatile it is. Their versatility has made them a popular choice among the youngsters as well. They are using brooches not only on clothes but also on scarves, handbags and on their hair. In fact, the colorful cabochon brooches can be used along with the star and octagonal designed brooches as a dangling charm.

The color combinations offered by the brooches is also something to note. They have white diamonds, white and black agates, turquoise and chalcedony making the pieces appear gorgeous. A particular sun brooch has a synthetic coral at its center rendering a subtle charm to the jewelry item. If you do not wish to have the sparkling gemstones, you can choose the octagonal star with its rose gold shiny body to style yourself. At the end of the day, the idea is to mix and match this versatile jewelry item with your attire.

Dragonflies Explored in High Fashion Jewelry Pieces

No matter how indifferent we are to the real dragonflies around us, we cannot ignore or overlook the jewelry pieces bearing a dragonfly design because they stun us with their artistic shape and value. Dragonflies have been inspiring jewelry designers since the Art Nouveau period making a place on the dresses, fingers, necks, wrists and also hearts of the fashionista. It is one of the most popular nature inspired designs that women love to wear. The delicate winged dragonfly appears in colorful shapes with precious gemstones on different kinds of jewelries. In fact, it is the only creature which can travel from water to land to sky inspiring artists and jewelry designers with its poise and magical flutter.

A dragonfly is not only celebrated for its elegance and charm but also for signifying transformation. It signifies the capability of embracing change with dignity. Dragonflies in static form have been captured by many artists and jewelry designers in Victorian era. But it was not until the Art Nouveau period that jewelry designers started capturing dragonflies in motion through their jewelry items. The delicate wings of the dragonflies inspired designers the most. The subtleties and slight veins of the wings shone in the light while the dragonflies flew around. These features lent themselves to a technique of enameling known as Plique-a-Jour which brought out the shimmering wings with utmost precision.

The elegance, poise and even sensuality of a dragonfly embodied the significant themes of the Art Nouveau period. In fact, in the best example of natural fantasy, a dragonfly metamorphoses into a beautiful woman. Dragonfly though celebrated in various kinds of designs on different types of jewelries, became most popular as brooches. Brooches are generally longer than many other jewelry items which suited their lithe bodies the most. However, rings, pendants, bracelets and earrings also bear the dragonfly as a beautiful and sensual motif.

Scintillating brooches made from rose gold or yellow gold with rose cut diamonds, emeralds and rubies in the shape of a dragonfly has swept off many fashionista off her feet. Aquamarine- The Talisman, the Healer and the Glamour Gemstone

Aquamarine, the ocean colored gemstone has always had a special place in the heart of jewelry lovers. Considered to be one among the ‘precious four’ gemstones, aquamarine as legend has it was once a stored by mermaids in their treasure chest to help sailors during stormy weather. With such an amazing legacy this beautiful gemstone has gone ahead to become a part of the most desired gemstones ever. Like most of the other major gemstones aquamarine too has been attributed with healing properties. It is believed to cure eye inflammation, seasickness, sore throat and also arthritis in certain cases. Its healing qualities have found a mention in the ancient documents.

Aquamarine belongs to the beryl family and derives its color from iron impurities inside the beryl crystal. An aquamarine occasionally has a star or a cat’s eye effect which makes it even more special. These stones with added effect are extremely rare and most valuable. It is not just valuable to jewelry lovers but also to jewelry designers because it is a hard stone. Jewelry cutters can experiment on this hard stone with various kinds of shapes and sizes which is not possible on a softer rock. It has a vitreous luster and appears in a wide range of blue starting from deep blue to almost translucent. Due to its unique glitter some people prefer the translucent type.

Very recently, Justin Bieber bought a necklace in the shape of a coiled snake encrusted with diamonds and a 13.05 carat aquamarine hanging from the center at $545,000. The necklace was being auctioned at the Cannes Film Festival’s annual anfAR Cinema Agianst AIDS event. He outbid Leonardo DiCaprio on the necklace which he later gifted his mother. Another opportunity for the aquamarine to rise above the average state of things appeared when a vintage necklace and drop earrings set featuring a 49.59 carat emerald aquamarine appeared in the movie the Great Gatsby. The design received lot of accolades and the aquamarine and diamond encrusted set was done on platinum making it one of the most expensive luxury jewelry.

Rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and even brooches in various designs come with aquamarine mounted on them which enhances their charm. The warm or cool blue shade adds a mystery to the jewelry item just like an extraordinary bracelet made from platinum features an emerald cut aquamarine in the center surrounded by diamond encrusted bow tie. This bracelet will increase the elegance of any ensemble at a special event.

Designs Defining Different Eras in Antique Jewelry

Buying antique jewelry items have become a trend. However, when you have information regarding the different eras and the influence they have had on the jewelry, it becomes easy for you to collect the items. The Gregorian era is signified by organic and floral motifs. Colorful gemstones, rose cut diamonds, silver fused yellow gold jewelry items are typical of the era. Bracelets, necklaces and detachable brooch and earrings happen to be the highlight of the period. Acrostic jewelry along with love poems or names engraved rings was also typical of the age which still now holds a great amount of popularity.

The sentimental motif in the form of love tokens reached its height during the Victorian age. Flowers, bows, hearts, lovers’ knot, serpents and moons were some of the dominant shapes during this era. Romanticism reached its peak during the first half of Victorian age and all the motifs indicated towards enduring love and long lasting relationships. Towards the second half of Victorian age, the motifs started changing with changing influences like industrial revolution and discovery of diamond mines in South Africa. Onyx and deep garnets became quite popular during this time on rings and lockets while the last half of the era witnessed a return to the light heartedness of romance and aesthetic.

Then came the Art Nouveau era marked with revolution against industrial set up. During this age jewelry designing became a tool for pure artistic expressions blended with rebellious use of precious and non-precious metals. Colorful gemstones were also used in abundance depicting nature inspired motifs like flowers, birds, trees and insects. The use of enameling was noticed during this time and with bold use of color and gemstones the sensuality of the female was also captured aesthetically. This period was followed by Edwardian era wherein platinum was introduced to the jewelry world. Millegrain and garland style of flower settings with diamonds, use of pearls in brooches and necklaces provided a lacy and airy feel to the jewelry collections.

The Art Deco era had a greater change in jewelry designing and was absolutely different from the others in terms of global influences and use of diamonds, platinum, lapis, jade, onyx, quartz, rubies and of course sapphires. The designs primarily were inspired by skyscrapers and pace. Art Deco designs are closest to the contemporary designs. During the Retro period which was a war torn period semi precious metals and stones like amethyst and citrine were all the rage on brooches while the mid 20th century depicting the cocktail era went back to animal motifs in 3D and stylized designs.

Graceful and Refined ballet Performances Inspire Exquisite Diamond Jewelry

If you love the fluidity of ballet and wish to have a lovely souvenir of a beautiful ballet performance you have seen last night, you can check out the latest fine jewelry collection which is inspired from the Royal Ballet performances. Each piece captures the fluidity and elegance of ballet dance. Diamonds in various colors, shapes and sizes have been used beautifully to capture the lightness and elegance of ballet dance. The purity in the movement of ballet, the fluidity in the stance and the formations the groups make inspire the jewelry designers to create fine pieces of diamond jewelry which is rare.

There is art and aesthetics in a ballet performance which is manifested through the formations the dancers make on stage and these formations have been captured in the jewelry pieces with their intrinsic beauty and artistic value adeptly by the designers. Having said that, the jewelry pieces are not sugar sweet but have an aesthetics influenced by the abstract shapes formed by the ballerinas on stage during their performance. The jewelries capture the intertwining bodies, stretched limbs and strength to bring out the muscular tension and provide an impression of elongation. The grace of ballet performance is captured in the jewelry items.

Since the dance is also about perfect balance in a moment, the jewelry items will celebrate it through the design of the exquisite pieces. This has been beautifully depicted through a necklace with a single line of marquise cut diamonds rhythmically embraced in each other’s presence and gliding down into a pointed knife-edge crescendo. Muscular tension has been wonderfully brought out by 4 diamonds set point to point opposite each other forming golden arches, while the graceful pirouettes of a ballerina in embraced slender arms position have been captured in kite-shaped diamonds.

Diamonds were the best choice to convey the balance, purity and power of a perfectly synchronized duet ballet performance. The polished and sophisticated aspect of ballet performance is brought out exquisitely by polished diamonds- a stone whose beauty and brilliance is unparalleled. Apart from the elongated marquise and the unusual kit-shaped diamond, the scintillating Ashoka cut diamonds have also been used in certain pieces which excel in their beauty and finesse. These diamond jewelries narrate a story in a flawlessly choreographed manner like a ballet performance does which leaves a mark in our hearts forever.

Diamond and ballet depict the power of partnership in a moment of perfection.

Birthstones

You are sure to know your birthday but do you have information about your birthstone too? Well, it is a good time to enhance your knowledge in this field especially when it has become fashionable to sport a birthstone on your ring finger nowadays. Adorning your person with a gem stone that is connected to your birth date is considered to be lucky. While many believe that it will bring them wealth and prestige, others are more concerned with their health but both groups believe in the power of the birthstones. The idea is not new though and the tradition dates back to the pre-biblical era with the Persians, Romans, and even Aztecs strongly believing in the might of their birthstones.

But what exactly is a birthstone? While there are many beliefs about them, there has been no common consensus to date. You may choose to adorn yourself with a mythical birthstone, a biblical one, or a zodiacal one. However, the modern birthstone came into existence in 1912 when a group of American jewelers invented the chart that is by far the most popular. The months of the year are associated to a particular gem stone in the chart and you are sure to get lucky by wearing a blue topaz, if you happen to be born in December or can do away with all ills by sporting a ruby if you are a July born person.
Types of Jewelry with Birthstones
While you are free to wear the gem stone in any form you fancy as long as it lies in touch with your skin, there are a few fixed pieces of jewelry that come encrusted with your birthstone. The list includes:-
·         Rings – These are the most commonly worn birthstone jewelry due to the reasonable pricing as well as the sheer variety of precious metals available for setting the gem. Young people are not always open to buying highly expensive gold rings and opt for the low-end range of birthstones set in silver or white metal.

·         Necklaces – Enhancing your looks and heightening your luck at the same time is possible when you choose to wear a beautiful necklace studded with precious gems including your birthstone. The appeal for wearing your luck on your neck also lies in the common astrological belief of wearing it close to the center of your body.

·         Bracelets – These are extremely handy as gifts especially when the birthstone dangles from an attractive lucky charm bracelet.

So, go ahead and wish your near and dear ones all the luck in the world by giving birthstones as gifts on birthdays, anniversaries, and graduation ceremonies.
